How to Find Your Workflow

Getting into a productive workflow is very rewarding. On the other hand, struggling to find your workflow can be highly frustrating!

When you feel you are stalling or struggling to get started altogether, don’t give up. Consider taking the following the steps to help you find your workflow:

Simplify Your Approach.

Assess your process. Are you taking on too many tasks at once? Do not multitask. While multitasking may feel productive, switching frequently between tasks can make it harder for you to focus. Likewise, don’t fixate on the size or potential difficulty of a task. Focus on each small step as you take it. Keep your concentration on the step at hand; when a task feels too large or daunting, you increase your likelihood of avoiding it or stalling while working on it.

Reduce Distractions.

Take unnecessary media out of your workspace. Don’t work in front of a TV screen. Consider using noise-canceling headphones if your workspace is noisy or hectic. If necessary, communicate with the people who work around you about when you are available to talk and when you are in a productive flow and should not be disturbed.

Improve Your Physical Comfort.

Evaluate the physical attributes of your workspace. If you experience any discomfort while working, you likely would benefit from a more ergonomic work setup. Hunching your back, squinting your eyes, and sitting for too long can all have long-term negative effects on your health and impact the quality of your work in the present.

Take a Quick Walk.

If you’re having trouble getting into a productive workflow, take a ten-minute walk outside. You may need a quick physical and mental refresh. After your walk, push yourself to spend a chunk of time tackling your to-do list. More tips for boosting your productivity and finding habits that work for you are available on the Syncis Money Blog today.
