Identify Time Wasters and Become More Productive
You work hard to achieve your goals; what if you had the ability to find a little more time and productivity each day?
Assess how you spend your time during the week. If you want to maximize your daily schedule, identify inefficient habits and activities. These eat up your time but give you little to no reward in return.
You’ll set yourself up to get more done if you use your time as wisely as you can. Stay aware of where and how you may be engaging in time-wasting habits and activities at the expense of your health and happiness, as well as your personal and professional goals. In the interest of getting more out of your day, push yourself to keep time wasters to a minimum when you are:
When Working.
Assess how you approach your tasks. Keep an eye out for time wasters in your professional processes! For example, a habit of frequently checking your phone and social media can eat up your time and distract you from both your immediate and long-term to-do lists. In the interest of getting into and maintaining a productive workflow, consider adopting the habit of time blocking, or grouping similar tasks together. Likewise, strive to communicate clearly and concisely with your peers and clients to avoid potential confusion and help everyone move toward their goals quickly.
Learning and Growing.
Self-improvement or learning something new takes time. Set aside time for activities that engage you, make you think, and help you develop your skillset. Don’t let time wasters get in the way of your personal growth! You don’t need to try out every brand-new professional fad or gadget; instead, consult your trusted mentors on how they pursue their personal and professional growth.
Relaxing and Recovering.
The way you spend your free time can make a major difference in your personal and professional success and happiness. You may notice certain downtime activities can eat up a lot of your day leaving you with little to show for your effort. For example, while it’s okay to watch your favorite shows or movies from time to time, a habit of binging television all day will leave you feeling tired, lazy, and asking where your time went. Make sure you integrate high-quality rest and relaxation, nutritious food, and adequate exercise into your regular self-care routine; you’ll have more energy and improve your ability to perform tasks throughout the week. When you find yourself staying sedentary for too long, push yourself to instead pursue hobbies that fulfill and energize you. You’ll have an easier time taking on the tasks and challenges of your workday if you are well-rested and replenished!
